It was hit and miss for rain from Dolly here in Concan, so the Frio River pretty much remains as it was. But vacationers are still coming in large numbers, with no cancellations. If you're comin up soon, just plan to find a nice place to swim, soak, and relax. Some hardy veterans of Frio River tubing are still making the local runs, but there is quite a bit of walking. Lot of sunshine in the forecast for the next week, but the weatherman has been known to be wrong....right!?
Recently, I had received several emails(not Blog comments)from folks with lots of questions about the area. Unfortunately, our computer crashed a week ago Friday, and we lost ALL of our emails, past and present. So if you're reading this(especially the guy who wrote the world champion longest e-mail to FrioMan ever), please resend your questions and I will do my best to answer all.
That's it for now, just lazin along like the Frio, slow & cool.
Take care, FrioMan

Hey FrioMan,
We got back Thursday from our little 2 night jaunt to the Frio and the river was low but we had a fantastic time and did not want to leave. It rained on us Thursday morning after we finished loading and I'm sorry that you guys didn't get a little more rain than you did. For all of you out there thinking you shouldn't make the trip beacuse of low water, go anyway. Its still beautiful and relaxing just to lay around and let the hours pass.
We are going to be there on Thursday. I have been talking to whoever I found that has been there recently. I have gotten several different replies from several people. My main concern is the fact we are taking our 2 dogs (first time on the river)and the thought of dragging their tubes when we have to walk doesn't thrill me. Someone has told me that the float from the second to first crossing was pretty good and not much walking. Maybe two waterfalls? Any suggestions? We are staying at Camp Wood and just coming to the Frio for the day,(probably Friday).
Hey FrioFamily- WELL SAID! A guy called the other day wanting to cancel because the water is low. He said what's the use coming if the River is low. Some folks just don't get it. Of course, he changed his mind when he found out he would not get his money back.
Good to hear from yall! FrioMan
Hello Antelope-There's quite a bit of walking on some of the tube trips, so you'll have to make a decision yourself whether or not to bring dogs(or children)along for the ride. The trips are a minimum of 3 1/2 hours(3rd to 2nd)here in Concan. Hangin out at one of the crossings or going to Garner are probably the best bets if you don't like slow water.
It's all fun! Take care, FrioMan
Thanks for the input! We don't mind the slow float or really the 4 hour float time....There will be 4 of us with tubes, a tube for the cooler and two small tubes for the dogs. I just want to find the place with the least amount of walking distance so we aren't having to carry all that...plus keep up with the 2 dogs (who will be leashed to me!)
Well...we survived the Frio!! It was LOW and we walked A LOT!!
I am scraped and bruised from head to toe...but it was a BLAST!!
The dogs did great....I didn't realize that 2 dogs in their own tubes wearing life jackets would garnish so much attention.
We got back to camp and they laid down and didn't move much until the next day! Haha!!
Next time we go and it's this low, we will definitely we will find a "deepish" spot and just hang there.
With the 2 dogs, it took us 6.5 hours to float/walk/slip/fall 2 miles.....I have never been so glad to see the "big rock" because I knew we were close to the end!!
