Right now, at 9:11 a.m., August 12, it's raining steady, with lightning and thunder. It just started about ten minutes ago, and I doubt it will last long. But any rain is welcome, as we are bone dry.
Raining harder now. All of these photos were taken within the last 5 or 6 days.
Hondo (Concan Pies) & I were goofin off below Bunk Falls the other evening.

Our books open for 2009 on October 1 for our wonderful vacation homes, so keep an eye on our website and FrioMan Blog for our newest additions. We've had a wonderful summer so far, with all of our homes staying booked...despite the lower than normal River conditions.
Come on out. It's still the best vacation spot in Texas! If ya see me, HOLLER!

I'm so tickled to have found your blog. My family built and owned your "West of the Frio" cabin until 2002. We have so many precious memories there! We were in Vanderpool/Utopia/Concan last weekend. My, was the river low. We just hunkered down and soaked!
Hey, just checked the river gauge for the Frio and it looks like the flow picked up pretty good. Glad you guys got a little rain.

I'm standing here dancing a little jig b/c I see the rain and river gauges are steadily rising and it's looking like the river is flowing pretty good right now!! Praise the good Lord b/c I thought our little piece of Heaven in Texas was going to dry up forevermore. I'm stoked! We'll have to find a weekend to make it to Hangin On to enjoy one last trip for the summer now that the river is going again.

Although we've gotten about 5" of rain recently, the Frio is still low and slow. But it's been like this all summer, and we haven't heard many complaints.
