Happy 4th of July!
We arose this morning to find out that the Frio didn't come up as high as expected. That's great news! I took this photo from the Buchanan Cabins side of the River at TX 127 at 9:30 this morning. As you can see, it's passable at this time. The rise this morning is about the same as Monday's, not too bad, but muddied it up again. There are no reports of any more water coming downriver AT THIS TIME. Larry & Helen Burgin of Buchanan Cabins had moved their tube rental tent and equipment away from the River again, but it never got that high. Better safe than sorry.
If you're looking for tube rentals, shuttle, parking, or Frio River access, go visit Larry & Helen at the big white tent at the 1st crossing on TX127. It's a super place at the best swimmin hole on the Frio.
Have fun & be safe! Remember, NO GLASS CONTAINERS ON THE RIVER. If you have ever seen a little one come crying from the River with their feet cut and bleeding from some irresponsible person's broken beer bottle, you know why.
That's just 1 important River rule....FrioMan

I stumbled upon your website and have thoroughly enjoyed the daily blogs. We are headed to the river on the 14th and can hardly wait! We were on the river 4 days after the BIG 28' flood in 2002. It will be nice to have lots of water for tubin' Thanks again for the daily blog updates you are doing us all a favor!
Thanks for all the great info and PLEASE keep it coming! We'll be there Thursday afternoon-staying in Garner with four 14 year old boys, a weinie dog and a five year old...Are we insane or what? We'll wave as we float past.
A group of us is heading down the week of the 16th. Is the river safe for kids ages 4-9. We have been before and it was great. Even took a 2 year old that year but it appears much higher and moving much quicker. Looking for any good information for a family with younger kids.
Hi Sadie
Sorry for the delay getting back to ya, but the blogger was givin me trouble. Since you've been here before, you have an idea of what the Frio is like. I don't know where on the River yall are going, but there are many places that are excellent for even the smallest children, as long as they are kept close. As far as taking them tubing, a dry run by a few of the adults might be a good idea to "test" the waters. If and when you decide to take the younguns tubing, put lifejackets on them, no matter how much they object. That's what I did with my babies when they were real little, and that's what they do with theirs.
(Hi Kelsea & Kassidy!)
Just use good sense and you and your children will have a safe, great time. My two typing fingers are worn out, and so am I. Feel free to call(830-232-4210)us if you have any more questions or concerns. Thanks for looking & have a blast on your vacation.
